IPL 2020: Ish Sodhi to be in a dual role for Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals have announced that Ish Sodhi will be in a dual role as the team’s support staff as a Spin Consultant, while also contributing in operations for the upcoming season of the VIVO IPL 2020.

Ish Sodhi has represented Rajasthan Royals in 8 IPL matches, picking up 9 wickets at an economy of 6.69. He was released by the franchise before the IPL 2020 Auction but has returned in a new capacity.

“I am delighted to be taking on this new challenge at Rajasthan Royals with this dual role. Having played for two seasons for the Royals, I have formed a great level of understanding with all the people involved with the franchise, and they have always been very supportive of me. Therefore, I did not have to think twice when this opportunity was offered to me by the Royals’ management. I love this franchise and want to help us win the IPL this year.

It is a fascinating opportunity for me, to be involved in the coaching staff at such a young age, while also supporting and learning about the operations of the business. I am very much looking forward to developing my coaching skills alongside Sairaj and learning from Jake on business operations.”

Ish Sodhi will be working closely with Rajasthan Royals’ spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule and Chief Operating Officer Jake Lush McCrum, as part of his new role with the franchise.

‘Frustrated’ Shubman Gill takes-on the Umpire

The Youth Batting Sensation Shubman Gill in an awkward moment in the ongoing Ranji Trophy refused to walk after given out and got into a heated argument with umpire Mohammed Rafi (making his debut) at the bowling end. This was the second incident in the past three matches where he was wrongly given out, and naturally, the frustration would have come out.

Later, the umpires reversed the decision. A PCA official explained Shubman’s side of the story.

“Initially he was given not out and he was looking at the ground. He suddenly saw everyone celebrating around him. It got to him. This is the second incident in the past three matches where he was wrongly given out. He is really sorry for his behaviour.”

However, regarding the issue, the match referee had a word with Shubman Gill and Delhi’s captain Dhruv Shorey, after the match. The Delhi team has decided not to lodge an official complaint against Shubman Gill.

Smith & Pattinson then, Stoinis Now, the woes of behavioural issues continue for CA

Star Australian All-rounder Marcus Stoinis was fined $7500 for “personal abuse” of a player (Kane Richardson), RCB the reason? anyways, Stoinis accepted his guilt and stated-

“I got caught in the moment and took it too far. I realised immediately I was in the wrong and I apologised to Kane and to the umpires. I did the wrong thing and accept responsibility for my actions. The standards are there for a reason and I accept the penalty.”

Recently Aussie Batsmen Steve Smith and fast bowler James Pattinson were also handed a test suspension for the same reason. Good for them, all accept their fault after the heat diminishes and apologizes.

Got it? it was his first offence, but was RCB the real reason for the spat?
