IPL 2020: Dream 11 IPL Teams Preview

Dream 11 IPL Teams Preview… IPL 2020 is the Dream 11 IPL. BCCI had to part ways with Vivo for the title sponsorship, of course, due to obvious reasons. But, what a moment for the Dream 11 team. Fantasy app primarily focussed on fantasy Cricket to sponsoring the marquee Cricket tournament of them all. Crazy journey.

IPL, the Indian Premiere League, but don’t go by it’s name Indian for it’s a premiere league for all the premiere Cricketers around the globe. A dream platform, a make-a-wish tournament for all the emerging prodigies. A trend setter. It is said that every other kid that aspires to represent his nation at the highest level also secretly wishes that he somehow makes it to the IPL. That’s the trend. That’s the aura.

But this 2020 has forced many things. It has also forced IPL to go out of its den. To the UAE. How will it fare? How will the teams fare who have gone to auction considering Indian pitches and crowd? Will this change in plans would affect them? Importantly, How will big players like Virat, MS, Rohit, Smith, Russell fare? But most importantly, How’s UAE gonna fare?

Dream 11 IPL in a long tournament. Let’s discuss Dream 11 IPL Teams Preview…

What’s up with UAE?

BCCI has locked 3 venues for this year’s Dream 11 IPL. Overall UAE pitches are termed as slow, spin-friendly, and less batting easy. The average scores indicate so, as well. But I wanna say you 2 things, Firstly no major players have played in UAE as much. The average scores will go up by a minimum of 30-40 runs per venue for the who’s who of Batting won’t be silent over a span of 2 months. And secondly, it’s IPL, Dream 11 IPL. Expect bang bang.

T20 stats from the venue

In the day it’s gonna be hot & humid, in the night it’s gonna be fun, welcome to the UAE. Pitch is going to be on the slower side. Not that much to throw away the impact of pacers. Pacers with variations will be the key. Spin will work, but not rank turners. Overall a batting paradise. Expect that average score to go up by 40-50 runs at the initial phase of the tournament, then by 25-30 at the lag end.

Dream11 IPL Teams Preview: IPL 2020 | Part 1

RCB & KXIP – The official Back-benchers of IPL

These 2 teams consistently come last, the official losers of the IPL. But… Bygones are bygones. It’s a new day and certainly a crazy year, 2020. So expect the unexpected. Can’t get more optimistic for IPL 2020 teams preview.

Let’s start with,

KXIP (Kings 11 Punjab)

Every analyst that is previewing KXIP says the same thing, last time when they played in the UAE they were the best. Yes. That’s right. But now, they don’t have Ashwin. An Indian experienced spinner and a great head, you can’t let them go. So who’s gonna lead that bowling attack? Shami or Mujeeb? Can they trust Cotrell to lead the attack? Then there comes Jordan.

So, Shami, Jordan, Ishan Porel, and Cottrell that’s the pace attack.

Spin attack– Mujeeb, Ravi Bishnoi, a young prodigy, Murugan, J suchith.

Then a few allrounders like K Gowtham, Maxwell, Nesham, Harlreet Brar.

In the Batting department, there’s Gayle and Rahul, the entertainers then Pooran, Nair, Mayank, Sarfaraz, Deepak Hooda, Mandeep Singh.

Biggest worry– the 4 foreign players for their playing 11.

Moderate worry– the Indian bowling attack.

Moderate advantage– Indian batting.

Biggest advantage– the T20 specialists.

What can KXIP do?

Start with Gayle, 4 matches, if he fails give him a mentor role as has been said by the Coach Anil Kumble. But then don’t look back at him and stick with Pooran at 4. They need to play 2 foreign all-rounders in Maxi and Neesham for they can’t rely alone on Rahul’s firepower. That’s 3 foreign players already. Now the headache, Jordan/ Cottrell/ Mujeeb. But it’s UAE, so Mujeeb would be handy. So, Maxwell/Neesham only one between should plays, then Jordan has a slight edge over Cottrell. In the spin department apart from Mujeeb and K Gowtham & Maxwell, they can try Bishnoi who can give that freshness. Shami over Porel and rest.

Possible 11

Gayle, Mayank,

Rahul (c/wk), Sarfaraz,

Maxwell, Mandeep, K Gowtham,

Jordan, Shami, Mujeeb, Bishnoi.

If Gayle is dropped,

Rahul (c), Mayank, Pooran(wk), Sarfaraz/Nair, Maxwell, Mandeep, K Gowtham, Jordan/Neesham, Shami, Mujeeb/Cottrell, Bishnoi/Ashwin/Suchit

Title Chances- 70%

RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Heartthrob & Heartaches quite the story so far, so was with me and my ex-crush. Shit! This year, Cap Kohli is confident over his team and says ‘this is the most balanced team since 2016.’ Is it?

Let’s see,

Biggest worry– the death. Yes death bowling and death batting, i.e, finishers. Choping & Changing.

Moderate worry- the Indian batting attack apart from Kohli.

Moderate advantage– Indian bowling.

Biggest advantage– the Top orders & RCB’s Fan-dome.

Well fans are gonna remain, but what a team do they have? How is it so balanced?

Top-order– Virat, Finch, Parthiv, Paddikal

Middle order– AB, Dube, Gurkeerat

Finishers– Moen, Morris, Sundar (!), Udana

New ball- Umesh, Steyn, Saini

Death bowling– Morris, Saini, Siraj (?)

Spin– Chahal, Sundar, M Ali, Zampa

Possible 11-

Two cases, if AB keeps and if he do not.

If he do not- extra firepower in Gurkeerat, because, can Parthiv clear the long ropes consistently?

Parthiv(wk), Finch, Virat, AB, Gurkeerat, Dube, Morris, Sundar/umesh, Zampa/Steyn, Saini, Chahal

If Sundar plays then Steyn gotta play & if Umesh then Zampa. I prefer Zampa to start with.

My 11-

Parthiv, Finch, Virat, AB, Gurkeerat, Dube, Morris, Umesh, Zampa, Saini, Chahal

Now what if AB keeps, Sorted out T20 squad.

Paddikal, Finch, Virat, AB (wk)

Dube, Morris, Sundar

Umesh, Saini, Chahal, Zampa

7 bowling options, pace and spin good mix. Umesh and Sundar can start with the new bowl with Morris and Saini both bowling 2 overs each at mid & death along with Chahal & Zampa to go wild after wickets.

Overall Good batting (on page), sorts out all the issues (on page). There is Udana, a like to like replacement for Morris. Steyn can come in if the pitch allows or else Umesh will suffice. The Indian players like Dube, Sundar, Gurkeerat, Pawan Negi, Shabaz Ahmed should really give their everything.

Lastly, take a vow to not chop, change panic after a few loses.

Now, Getting back to Kohli’s most balanced side, sorry it’s still not, but yes a bit better.

Title Chances– 75%

IPL 2020 Teams Preview: The Dream 11 IPL part 2

KKR & SRH – the good devils

DC & RR – lost in the wild

RR (Rajasthan Royals)

Since the commencement of the marquee tourney RR were the Underdogs. But under the flamboyant captaincy of Warne, the underdogs bit them hard as they clinched the first-ever trophy. Well, the underdog’s tag has remained with them but the title hunt sunk down with every year RR trying hard but are unable to cross the line. Now they seem to be lost in the wild, i.e, Dream 11 IPL for you. This auction they tried to fix it a bit. Hope their fate changes with it. What do you think, Will it change this year? Dream11 IPL Teams Preview– RR.

Biggest worry- Indian Players. Yes. Batting gives headaches due to more options while bowling gives the same for opposite reasons. Varun Aaron, Tyagi, Rajpoot have to prove themselves.

Moderate worry-  pace attack, only Archer remains as a sole pick. With Stokes and Aaron,Unadkat or Tyagi, can he deliver?

Moderate advantage- Indian Spin. Gopal, Parag(all rounder), Markande.

Biggest advantage- Foreign players. Smith, Butler, Stokes, Archer, Tye, Tom Curran, Miller, Thomas.

Possible 11-  Samson, Utthapa, Smith, Butler, Riyan Porag, Stokes, S Gopal, Archer, Rajpoot, Kartik Tyagi, Markande

Jaiswal should be given chance as well. Samson a permanent opener. Butler should bat down to finish or anchor the innings. In the bowling give spin a more weightage, play to your strengths.

Lastly, I would go with new and fresh Kartik Tyagi instead of Unadkat and Aaron. This is 2020, do things as unexpected as you can. 😉

Title Chances- 75%

DC (Delhi Capitals)

Quite opposite story with DC, previously DD.

Well, Dc- they have literally changed everything from jerseys to one that wears them, from coaches to support staff, even owners and share-holders, but their fate remained the same, trophyless. Then they changed their brand of Cricket, o finally good sense, all thanks to Pointing and Kaif and GG, and then they were in the playoffs. They had a good auction too. Where will they end up? Dream11 IPL Teams Preview– DC

Biggest worry- Batting picks.

Moderate worry- Foreign picks.

Moderate advantage- Indian bowling. Both pace and spin.

Biggest advantage- the Top orders & Indian players.

Possible 11-

Dhawan, Shaw, Iyer, Pant, Hetmyer, Lalit Yadav, K Paul, KG, Lamichane, Mishra, Ishant

Indian top 4. That’s the best Indian top 4 there. Hetmyer at 5 is Gold. Lalit is an exciting pick. The Player to watch out for.

Foreign picks- KG, Lamichanne, KPaul and one among Stoinis or Hetmyer. K Paul in death with KG. Lamichane much needed in UAE.

DC has enough Firepower in Pant, Shaw, Dhawan, Iyer. So I say Hetmyer would be a better floater than Stoinis.

Title Chances- 80%

KKR & SRH – the good devils

Both KKR and SRH like good devils slaughters the bowlers of opposition’s but still we all love them for the smile they wear on their face while doing it.

KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Not a great season last year despite Russell’s carnage. Things are expected to be better this year. Great addition in Morgan. Nagarkoti and Mavi are fit too. Gill is more experienced now. Best thing is Russell and Narine are in superb form.

Biggest worry- touch and form of a few Indian players like Nagarkoti, Karthik etc.

Moderate worry- spin attack. They are gonna miss Chawla’s services.

Moderate advantage- Indian players. Both bat, pace and spin.

Biggest advantage- foreign players. Morgan, Russell, Narine & Cummins.

Possible 11-

Gill, Narine, Rana, Russel, Morgan, Karthik, Cummins,  Nagarkoti/Mavi, P Krishna, Kuldeep, M Shidhart (unpopular opinion I guess. He can bat at 9)

Title Chances- 85%

SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Again, not a great last year despite Warner’s blitz but all is well in SRH. Manish ia back in form that’s a huge advantage. SRH as a team defines trust and persistence. Absolutely love them.

Biggest worry- Not a worry but headache, kindaa good headache which turns into a severe one, their Foreign picks.

Moderate worry- indian batsmen.

Moderate advantage- Indian bowling. Mainly pacers..

Biggest advantage- the Top orders & foreign players.

Possible 11– Warner, Saha(wk), Kane, Pandey, V Shankar, A Sharma, Nabi, Rashid, S Nadeem, Bhuvi, Khaleel.

4 pace options. 2 at death each by Bhuvi and Khaleel. Rashid, Nabi and Shabaz Nadeem good spin attack. Saha can keep and open thereby retaining left right combo. Kane should play at 3.

Title Chances- 85%

Teams Preview IPL 2020: The Dream 11 IPL

CSK & MI – the official bullies of IPL

Consistency. These 2 teams define the word. They live by it. Not only in terms of winning matches and performance but also in terms of winning trophies. 7 trophies together, 2 more than rest of all teams combined. That makes them the big boys, the Bully’s of the Tournament, Dream11 IPL.

CSK (Chennai Super Kings)

Yellove fan? You gotta worry a bit. First Raina opted out, then Harbhajan did, both pure class and match winners. But hey, this is CSK for you. They are the teams with most numbers of match winners in it. So how would they do in the UAE? Importantly, without Raina. Today in Dream 11 Teams preview, CSK

Biggest worry- Solid middle order batsman who could fill the void of Chinna-Thala, Suresh Raina. Foreign picks.

Moderate worry- Form of Big-players like Ms, Faf, Watto, Rayudu, who had none or very less match practice.

Moderate advantage- Indian bowling, both pacers and spinners. Chawla will fill the void of Bhajji.

Biggest advantage- MSD. Adaptability of the players. Players that rise to the occasion. Team ethics.

Possible 11– Watson, Rayudu, Faf/Sam Billings, Kedar, MS, Jaddu, Bravo, Chahar (when fit)/Asif, Tahir, Thakur, Chawla

R Gaikwad seems an interesting pick. He may get a few chances. But I would go with Watto, Faf, Bravo and Tahir as my 4 foreign picks.

Title Chances- 87 %

MI (Mumbai Indians)

Biggest worry- Spin attack which seems to be the need of the UAE.

Moderate worry- The perfect 11. Ishan Kishan, Quinny, Lyn, Rohit, in fact, even Surya are all top 3 spot players.

Moderate advantage- Bowling attack. Mainly pacers.

Biggest advantage- all-rounders in the team.

Possible 11– Quinny, Lyn, Rohit, Surya, Krunal, Hardik, Pollard, Boult, R Chahar, Bhumrah, Anukul Roy

Title Chances- 87%
